Its Alive! the 572" engine in the 1992 454 SS runs

Finally have the truck pretty much completed and running after a 5 month build. Everything seems to be working great and the truck drives fantastic. I have a couple of tweaks here and there to do, but its going down the road and sounds awesome.
The 3 1/2" exhaust with dual 3 1/2" Flomaster 50 series HD mufflers running out and turned down just below each corner of the rear bumper worked out super. Truck sounds badass!
The 572 runs great and has tons of power and torque. With the Circle D 3200 converter its in the "sweet zone" any time you mash the gas. It will rape the 295-65-15 M/T Drag Radials at will in 1st gear. 2nd thru 3rd gear the truck never stops pulling. It putsa smile on my face everytime I blip the throttle Grin I have gotten multiple thumbs up so far this past weekend.
Whats really cool is rolling up the windows in these 90+ deg temps and turn on the cool A/C Cool

Just added a short video burning rubber and having fun.

Here is a short video of engine running.

Here is a link to a photobucket album showing some pics. I will try to get a good video, but the exhaust overwhelms the microphone and does not do any justice to how the engine really sounds.

What headers are those? What are the primary and collector size. I need a decent sized set and don't want to pay to have a set made.

They are Hooker Supercomps with 2" primary tubes and 3.5" collectors. I think they are the biggest headers available without going to custom built headers. Really wish I could have found some 2 1/8" tubes to put on the truck

Are they made for our trucks specifically? I've got a local guy here who can build me a set but he want's $1,000. With the hours going into a set I don't think thats unreasonable, just would rather find an off the shelf set for cheaper if I could. I think I need at least a 2 1/8th primary, but I want 2 1/4 if I have a set made.

Yes, these are made for these truck applications. Driver side has one tube that hangs down kind of low where it wraps around the lower control arm. If the truck is not lowered its not a huge deal.
The Hooker Supercomps are $580 uncoated and probably in the $910 range for the coated version.

I kind of wish I would have gone the custom route now that it is all said and done.

Are these the ones you got?

https://www.holley.com/products/exhaust/headers_and_exhaust_manifolds/all_header...

Is the coating worth the extra $350?
I've got to get something different than what I have. Thinking of selling yours?

Best bet is get the uncoated ones and have em modified.  Then have em coated.  They are ridiculously low to the ground.

That's what I'm afraid of. My truck sits low.
