Coolant line under TBI

I know people here have re-routed the coolant line so that it does not flow though the intake or adapter under the TBI.  Anyone have any issues by doing that?  I've heard that ice can form, but haven't heard any actual occurrences of it.

I rerouted mine simply because I could not get the plastic connector out to replace it and the metal hose was rotten. I dried out the adapter but I also live in Houston, TX so it doesn't get too cold for too long periods of time.

I'm in Phoenix.  We get maybe a handful of days that will drop to about freezing overnight, but rarely a day under 50.  We do make trips to northern AZ and will go into the snow.  At what temps do these start to ice up?
